John Hasbrook
John Hasbrook has been practicing law since 1991 as a Member of the Oregon State Bar. He went to undergraduate school at Linfield College and Willamette University, earning a B.A in Economics in 1987 and law degree (Juris Doctorate) in 1991. During law school, he worked as a law clerk for the Oregon Department of Justice in Salem, Oregon. After law school, he worked as a Deputy District Attorney for the Multnomah County District Attorney's office in Downtown Portland, Oregon where he prosecuted crimes and appeared in court for jury and non-jury trials and other similiar court appearances.
After the DA's office, John worked for a large interstate commercial trucking company as in house corporate counsel. There he was involved in working with the self insurance program in responding to claims and lawsuits filed against the company arising out of its trucking operations. John also performed corporate legal work, employment law, regulatory law and other similiar legal tasks arising out of the corporate operations.
In 1997, John took over the law practice of Scott McArthur, a Monmouth lawyer that had practiced law since 1967. John has been in practice as a solo practitioner since then focusing on small business legal issues, estate planning and probate, civil litigation, contract law, real estate, school law and other areas.
In addition, John loves to teach and has been active as adjunct faculty at Western Oregon University for over a decade. There he has taught Introduction to Business Law, International Business Law and Legal Reasoning and Writing courses. He also currently teaches Business Law and Family Business Management at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon.
